Updated 12 October 2026. This research-based Namecheap hosting review uses official product information. We have not performed a speed, uptime or support benchmark.
Our verdict: is Namecheap hosting a good fit?
Namecheap is worth considering for a small website when you want hosting, a domain and optional email services from one provider. The decision should rest on the renewal bill, operating limits and the work you are willing to manage. A low introductory price does not establish speed or reliability. For a business-critical site, ask how you will recover data, handle downtime and move the site if your needs change.
Domains, shared hosting and EasyWP are different purchases
A domain is your website address; hosting stores and serves the website. You can buy them from different companies. Namecheap offers both, but do not assume every hosting plan includes your chosen domain or its renewal. Shared hosting is a general-purpose cPanel service. EasyWP is Namecheap’s managed WordPress product. Decide whether you need WordPress specifically, several sites, email mailboxes or a different application before comparing the advertised prices.
Shared hosting plans: Stellar, Plus and Business
The current shared-hosting page lists Stellar, Stellar Plus and Stellar Business. Stellar supports three websites, 20 GB SSD storage and 30 mailboxes. Higher plans change storage, site allowances and backup features. Read the full specification rather than treating “unlimited” or “unmetered” as unlimited processing power. Match the plan to the number of sites you will maintain, the files they store and the recovery tools you need.
How much does Namecheap hosting really cost?
Who should shortlist Namecheap—and who should look further?
Compare the first-term charge with the renewal charge for the same billing period and datacenter. The shared-hosting page currently shows monthly renewal figures of $5.88 for Stellar, $7.88 for Plus and $11.88 for Business in its pricing table. Promotional offers and longer commitments can differ. Record the amount charged today, the next renewal date and any optional extras. Domain renewals, paid SSL after an included period, email upgrades and taxes can change the total.
When EasyWP may be a better choice
EasyWP is a separate WordPress-focused service, not another name for a Stellar plan. Namecheap describes it as cloud hosting with a managed environment and an individual container for each site. It may suit someone who wants a more focused WordPress setup. Before choosing it, check how many sites the purchase covers, storage and resource allowances, backup access, plugin compatibility and how you will export the site. Do not transfer cPanel assumptions directly to EasyWP.
Backups, security and day-to-day management
Stellar’s internal backups are described as ideally twice weekly and not guaranteed; Plus and Business add AutoBackup. Keep a separate recoverable copy of essential site data and test restoration. Shared hosting includes automatic SSL, but the advertised Standard SSL inclusion is for one year. Check its later cost or replacement before renewal. Account security, software updates and access controls still need attention. A provider’s uptime guarantee is a contractual promise, not a measured JKOffers uptime result.
Cancellation and refund checks
Read the current refund policy before buying. Namecheap limits its 30-day shared-hosting money-back provision to qualifying first-time accounts and includes product-specific conditions. Domain registration and renewal rules differ from hosting rules. Do not treat a hosting trial as a promise that every item in a bundled cart is refundable. Record the cancellation deadline, whether renewal is automatic, and the method used for a refund.
A freelancer or small business with a modest website may find the breadth of services convenient. Shared hosting may also suit someone comfortable managing a cPanel account. A demanding online store or application should first establish the required resources, recovery process and support arrangements rather than choosing by price alone. Compare a like-for-like renewal budget with other hosts, and check a representative site before committing to a long term.
